Dr. Scott Eidelman and Ian Beatty from the University of Arkansas seem unwilling to wait another 300 years before stepping up to address public perceptions of the existence of UFOs/UAPs and extraterrestrial life.
In Eidelman and Beatty's visionary survey, they appear to not only address the UFO/ET question but they delve into the deeper psychological and emotional understandings of contact with off-world civilizations.
It is worth noting that the survey's content reflects a rather clear understanding of these issues. In fact, one of the first items Beatty and Eidelman mention is the recent appearance and testimony by former U.S. intelligence officer David Grusch before a Congressional Committee on UAP.
In citing Grusch's testimony, Beatty and Eidelman are obviously thinking about the future implications for humanity.
In a statement to ZNN from Ian Beatty he said:
"As researchers, we are faced with many interesting questions that we are unable to answer. We cannot meaningfully contribute to the question of whether or not non-human intelligent life exists, but we can study the implications of people’s perceptions of UFOs, UAPs, and the like."
Recent bombshell disclosures at Congressional committee hearings about unacknowledged American UAP crash retrieval programs and non-human remains of bodies in the possession of the U.S. government, have set off what author Michael Schellenberger describes as a wave of Ontological Shock among members of the public and the Congress.

Senator Chuck Schumer |
Public statements by Congressional leaders Senator Chuck Schumer and Representatives Tim Burchett and Nancy Mace about UAP have stirred a caldron already boiling over with new and world-wide narratives about UAP.
Beatty and Eidelman have gone deeper
They feel too little consideration has been given to how, on a global scale, humanity will psychologically and emotionally react to the inevitable... contact between one or more off-world civilizations with the human family. Will these revelations bring humans together or divide us?
About this, Beatty went on to comment:
"As these topics become discussed more openly, public perceptions may shift, and this shift may have political and social implications, including whether we might come together or move further apart as a society."
According to the questions in the survey - the psychological effects could be quite dramatic.
The survey addresses such matters as: - How much reading have people done on UAP,
- What films have an influence on feelings about ET life,
- Might ETs be friendly or non-friendly,
- Fear,
- How might the political ideology of participants influence their perceptions of the UAP/ET matter,
- How effectively is the U.S. government dealing with UFOs sighting reports.
ZNN asked - What comes next? Beatty responded:
"This is the first study where we are investigating these perceptions. The results of this study will inform future studies where we may learn of more relevant questions to ask... these results will tell an interesting story that can be published in an academic journal."
The long road to complete disclosure leads to an uncertain horizon.
During the feckless times in which we live, we continue to be plagued by dithering and spiritless government legislators, incessant discord and speculation among the UAP research community and the unschooled indifference of mainstream media.
From where we sit, Beatty and Eidelman and hopefully other academics just may have given these feckless times and its people a new vision - preparing for contact - not arguing about it.
