Toronto Takes Centre Stage on UAP - Again

A Toronto Tradition on 

UAP Continues

Toronto [ZNN] Once again, Toronto is setting the stage for Canadians and the international community to engage with what many regard as one of the most perplexing and misunderstood phenomena in human history - Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon. 

This tradition extends back to September 2005, when more than 400 people gathered at the University of Toronto for the Symposium on UFO Disclosure and Planetary Directions. There, Paul Hellyer, former Canadian Minister of National Defence, challenged the Canadian government to adopt a more transparent approach to the UFO issue.

A decade later, from 2015 to 2019, Toronto hosted the Alien Cosmic Expo, bringing together internationally recognized researchers and activists to present new perspectives and findings related to UFOs. 

SCU - A Three Day Event

Now, the Texas-based Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies will host its annual conference in Toronto for a three-day event dedicated to the scientific study of unidentified anomalous phenomena on July 24, 25 and 26, 2026.

Conference organizers' emphasis on scientific rigour and evidence-based inquiry is expected to stimulate renewed public discussion and interest in UAPs—an issue that has attracted the attention of the United States Congress, as well as governmental and military bodies in Brazil, Peru, and Chile. Interest has also grown within professional organizations such as the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, which has hosted discussions examining the scientific and aerospace implications of UAP reports.

Christopher Mellon

The SCU Conference will open on Friday evening, July 24, with an exclusive dinner and keynote address by former U.S. Assistant Deputy Secretary for Defence Christopher Mellon at Toronto's Windsor Arms Hotel. Mellon has consistently advocated for greater government transparency, congressional oversight, and improved aviation safety reporting regarding unexplained aerial phenomena. Mr. Mellon's presence at the SCU conference further extends Toronto as the epicentre of UAP Disclosure in Canada.

The conference is expected to bring together researchers, academics, policymakers, journalists, and interested members of the public to examine the growing body of evidence surrounding UAPs and to explore their potential scientific, technological, and societal implications.
